Additional Info
:
Satang Island, is situated offshore from Santubong and Damai, in Sarawak.

The Island consists of two small islands, Pulau Satang Besar and Pulau Satang Kecil.

Traditionally, the island is a haven for turtles on their migratory journey around the world. Between May and October, the island is the perfect time for green turtles to come ashore and lay their eggs at the island.

Pulau Satang Besar and its surrounding waters are protected as a sanctuary for these endangered turtles. The turtle sanctuary, is supervised by the Sarawak Turtles Board of Management in close cooperation with the Sarawak Museum and the Sarawak Forestry Department.
Itinerary :
In the morning, board a motorized launch for a trip along the historical Santubong River where Sir James Brooke more than 150 years ago sailed up its waters on his schooner, the Royalist, to make a name for himself in Sarawak's modern history.

Cruising pass the swaying leaves of nipah palms, coconut and mangrove trees and fishing villages you may be able to catch glimpses of mudskippers foraging on the mid-banks or even tiny agile flying fish leaping across the bow of your boat.

As the meandering river joins the South China Sea, the boat will go pass Mt. Santubong and you will see a great number of "kelong" structures along the shallow shoes, the preferred and traditional style of fishing of local Malay fishermen.

Arrive at Satang Island, spend a few hours swimming and snorkeling the pristine waters of Satang, well known for its beautiful corals, its huge lobsters and colorful fish.

If you are lucky, you will have the opportunity to release some of the new turtle hatchlings back into the sea. Lunch will be served at the beach. Free to relax and enjoy the surrounding area.

In the afternoon return to Kuching via the same route.

Includes: English speaking guide, return land/boat transfer, tour, 1 lunch, entrance fee, life jacket and snorkeling set

Note: Tour closed during wet season (December to February)
